Presentation and public speaking skill development Speaking Up

This course will teach you the art of captivating an audience right from the start, the secrets to crafting memorable messages, and how to harness the power of your own unique presenting style.

We will also provide you with a safe space to practice your public speaking skills, in exchange, all that we ask is that you come fully prepared to get involved in a little presentational merrymaking!

  • A Learning Quest

We will delve into the significance of having a clear and concise story, the power of simplicity in communication, effective writing and speaking techniques, utilising logic and emotion to influence and persuade, the use of positive body language to captivate an audience, and the often overlooked art of storytelling.

  • Becoming an effective presenter

The importance of non-verbal and physical components cannot be overstated when developing and delivering an outstanding presentation. Eye contact, gesture, emphasis, prosody, openness, warmth, and assertiveness are just a few topics that will be covered (and practised) during our time together.

  • Structuring & Delivering

The most effective presenters employ techniques such as giving their audience a reason to listen, revealing and reiterating the path to a better way and concluding with a call to action; we will share our proven pizzazz on structuring and delivering a super-duper presentation.

"A successful presentation is a little miracle; people see the world differently afterwards."

Public Speaking Public speaking is a skill that, like any other, requires practice to master.

Public speaking is a skill that, like any other, requires practice to master. We provide you with a treasure trove of tailored, practical (and dare we say, entertaining) presentation skills, tools, and public speaking confidence techniques.

You can't give a good presentation unless you have something worthy to talk about, and we all know that humans are hardwired to listen to (and learn from) good stories told well. One of the most important aspects of your presentation preparation and delivery should be conceptualising and framing what you want to say. Join us on our learning quest to deliver magical, informative, and engaging storytelling.

It's not so much what you say as how you say it that matters. The importance of non-verbal and physical components cannot be overstated when it comes to the process of developing and delivering an outstanding presentation. Eye contact, gesture, emphasis, prosody, openness, warmth, and assertiveness are just a few topics that will be covered (and practised) during our time together... To name only few!

"As the Chief Instructor for a selection pathway, maximising the performance output of students and Directing Staff alike is an important area I immediately aimed to tackle once in post.

Whilst searching for ways/means to improve in this area, Business Checkmate was referred to me by a work colleague. Once I’d spoken to Rachel and discussed potential outcomes, I immediately knew she was the right person for the job.

Rachel brings an energetic, professional and personal approach to all the training she has provided during my two years in the post. Whether presentational techniques with the students or team coaching for my Directing Staff, the results have always been extremely impressive, and the coaching is second to none.

Students are much more confident when presenting to their peers/an audience. The Directing Staff have applied new techniques and practices (not taught on any military course) to nurture the students in different ways allowing them to succeed on such a demanding training course. Feedback has always been of the highest praise.

I recommend Rachel & Business Checkmate to any training team looking to improve student and DS performance."
